What's new in Microsoft Query

With Microsoft Query, you can create new queries or refresh existing queries that were created in other versions of Excel. However, you cannot modify queries or save new queries to a file other than an Excel workbook.

To use Query, you will need an ODBC driver that is compatible with Microsoft Office. The ODBC driver is supplied by a third-party vendor. Visit the product website for more information.

In addition, Query has been streamlined to provide tools that address the most common needs of Excel users for database connectivity. These include inner and outer joins, operators, a SQL view for editing SQL SELECT statements directly, sorting, and criteria. Advanced features found in previous versions of Query, such as editing the result set in Query's Data pane before returning the results to Excel, and calculations in field criteria are supported through the new SQL view in Query.
